The resurgence of the vintage mamianqun, or horse-face skirt, has been observed among lovers of the hanfu attire who wear it in the traditional way or with a modern top.
To address the trend, the Tsinghua University Art Museum will hold a yearlong exhibition, to open in March and continue till March 2026, to introduce the transformation of the style from the Song Dynasty (960-1279) through adaptations in the modern fashion industry by home designers.
The exhibition is one of the highlights of the museum's diverse calendar of the year.

Other anticipated shows include one featuring selected artifacts from the collection of the Central State Museum of Kazakhstan, in Almaty, to trace the formation of steppe culture since the Bronze Age and its role in the exchanges between Eastern and Western civilizations.
Another exhibition will show more than 200 works of artists once featured at the Fumetto Comic Festival Lucerne, celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Sino-Swiss diplomatic ties.
Artifacts to picture the history of Henan province will gather at an exhibition, as the fourth of a string of shows that the museum has curated for a glimpse of the richness and depth of Chinese civilization.
