The domestic tourism will witness a notable boom in the May Day holiday due to people's ever-growing desire for travel and the well-controlled epidemic.

It's estimated by the industry insiders that over 200 million trips will be made by domestic travelers over the five-day break. Some tickets for attractions and homestays at popular destinations were already sold out, travel agencies said.

Latest figures from the Traffic Administration Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security on Monday show that the passenger flows will exceed 250 million over the break.

Wuhan, the city once hit hard by the coronavirus, rose to become the third most popular destination in the holiday, according to Travelgo, an online travel agency.

Popular attractions in Wuhan, for example, Happy Valley of Wuhan, a theme park, saw reservation reach 30,000 until Thursday. It will see about 140,000 visitors during the holiday.

Reservations for hotels in Wuhan also see a surge. Trip.com Group, another online travel agency, said that reservation for hotels in Wuhan has so far seen a 35 percent rise compared with the same period of 2019 when the holiday was four-day long.
