The construction of infrastructure supporting the 2022 Winter Olympics has entered its final stretch in Zhangjiakou, Hebei province, which will host most of the Games' snow events.

As of Tuesday, construction of six of the 10 transport facilities to serve visitors during the Games has been completed, Hebei Daily reported.

The six projects include an expansion project for Zhangjiakou Ningyuan Airport, which will be able to serve a million passengers annually; a high-speed railway connecting Chongli district with Beijing; and highways linking downtown Chongli with the region's ski resorts.

The other four transportation projects have entered the final construction phase, the report said.

A town themed for winter sports — Ice Snow Town — has also entered the final stage of construction. The town will have a venue for award ceremonies, an international conference center, hotels and some supporting facilities related to ice and snow sports.

The town will cover 1.34 million square meters. It's close to the Taizicheng High-Speed Railway Station, which is the start of the high-speed rail line, putting Chongli just one hour from downtown Beijing. It was opened at the end of last year.
