Officials in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, confirmed that a sample of frozen chicken wings imported from Brazil tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Wednesday.

The contaminated chicken wings were discovered on Tuesday, when Longgang district inspected a shipment of imported cold chain food.

Shenzhen tested every person who might have made contact with the goods, and all the close contacts of the sample that tested positive were subjected to health monitoring and management.

All the products were sealed. Some items that had been sold were traced, and authorities were notified to dispose of them properly.

Shenzhen authorities said they will continue to inspect imported frozen food. The municipal government also cautioned residents that they must be careful when they buy imported frozen food.
