As temperatures quickly rise, villagers in Lvchun county, Southwest China's Yunnan province, are becoming busy with spring agricultural activities.
In the hazy early morning, villagers have started planting red rice seedlings in the terraced fields, creating an idyllic and refreshing scene.
Over the past several years' anti-poverty campaign, the county's government has been focusing on improving a fine breed of red rice and implementing supportive policies to encourage farmers to plant red rice, helping impoverished villagers escape poverty.
There are more than 5,000 families in the county planting 666.7 hectares of red rice.
"Thanks to the good policies, we received free seeds distributed by government," said Zhao Micu, a villager from Manluo village. "Besides the family consumption, I got an income of 3,000 yuan ($425) for selling red rice last year."
