World Theatre Day has been celebrated on March 27 every year since 1962 by theater professionals, theater organizations and theater lovers from all around the world.

Due to the novel coronavirus outbreak, many theaters have canceled or postponed their shows, which makes this year’s World Theatre Day unique.

To mark World Theatre Day, China National Theatre for Children has released a video titled Theatre Has Great Power, which recognizes the power of theater especially among the youngsters and is dedicated to theater lovers and professionals.

"Theater has a role, a noble role, in energizing and mobilizing humanity to lift itself up. It can transform the stage, the performance space, into something sacred," Shahid Nadeem, Pakistan's leading playwright and head of the renowned Ajoka Theatre, who is this year's message author of World Theatre Day, said.
