Lekima, the ninth typhoon of this year, made a second landing around 8:50 pm Sunday along the coastline in East China's Shandong province.
The deadly typhoon has killed at least 32 people in East China's Zhejiang province as of 1:30 pm on Sunday, with another 16 missing, local authorities said.
Most of the deaths occurred in Yongjia county, administered by Wenzhou city, where torrential downpours caused a landslide that blocked rivers. The barrier lake bursted and flooded people away. Twenty-three died and nine went missing there.
Three were killed in Lin'an, with four missing, while six died in Leqing, and three went missing in Linhai.
As of 5 pm Sunday, the super typhoon left 6.51 million people impacted in the provinces of Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Anhui, Shandong and Fujian as well as the city of Shanghai, according to the Ministry of Emergency Management.
Authorities have relocated some 1.46 million people, the ministry said.
Lekima, the ninth typhoon of this year, landed around 1:45 am Saturday in Zhejiang, bringing heavy rainstorms and triggering flash floods.
In Zhejiang, the typhoon damaged more than 173,000 hectares of crops and 34,000 houses. Direct economic loss amounts to 14.57 billion yuan (about $2.1 billion), the headquarters said. Rescue operation is underway.
Lekima is moving northwards and will churn up the east coast of Shandong Province on Sunday.
It is expected to make a second landing along the coastline in Shandong late Sunday, bringing strong wind and heavy downpours, the National Meteorological Center warned on Sunday.
Shandong air traffic management bureau said the typhoon will greatly affect traffic in airports of the area. A total of 47 flights have been adjusted.
Shanghai Disney closed
In Shanghai, the local meteorological observatory issued an orange alert on Typhoon Lekima Saturday afternoon, with heavy downpours expected in its urban area within the next six hours.
The Shanghai Disney Resort, including Shanghai Disneyland, was closed on Saturday for safety reasons.
It is the first time that Shanghai Disneyland has closed down due to inclement weather conditions since its opening in June 2016.
People who had tickets for Shanghai Disneyland for Saturday can visit the park on any other day within the next six months (by February 10, 2020), according to the resort.

HANGZHOU - At least 18 people were dead and more than 4 million others were adversely affected by Typhoon Lekima after it made landfall on Saturday in Wenling City, eastern China's Zhejiang Province.
With a maximum wind force of 187 km/h, Typhoon Lekima, the ninth of the year, made landfall at about 1:45 am Saturday in Wenling City, Zhejiang. Yongjia County was the worst hit.
Typhoon Lekima brought heavy rainstorms in Yongjia County and caused a landslide that blocked the rivers, raising the water level to a maximum of 10m within 10 minutes and trapping 120 villagers.
At least 18 people were found dead and 14 others missing as of 3:30 pm Saturday due to a barrier lake burst caused by Typhoon Lekima, according to local authorities.
Because of Lekima, Zhejiang also shut down 204 ferries, canceled 288 flights, suspended sections of its railway lines and closed 658 scenic spots. Damaged fiber optic cables caused network failure affecting nearly 9.97 million cellphone users.
As of 3 pm Saturday, the super typhoon left 4.02 million people impacted in Zhejiang, and 867,000 more people were relocated. And 103,000 hectares of crops damaged and over 14,000 houses destroyed.
The typhoon has caused direct economic loss totaling 7.44 billion yuan ($108 billion), said the sources.
Local authorities in Zhejiang have sent over 15,000 technical workers and organized rescue teams of nearly 1,000 members, with 150 fire engines and 153 boats on call.
Elsewhere in Shanghai, 253,000 people were relocated early Saturday, with parts of the city's rail transit services including the maglev train temporarily suspended. The typhoon blew down nearly 3,000 trees and destroyed 100 power lines, among which 80 have been restored so far.
Shanghai has been affected by heavy rainstorm since Friday afternoon, according to the municipal flood control department.
Lekima is expected to move at about 15 km per hour northward and westward with abatement of wind. It is expected to reach Jiangsu Province Saturday night and will bring heavy rain to the provinces of Anhui, Fujian, Jiangsu, in addition to Zhejiang and Shanghai.
