The eighteenth episode of China Daily website's "Poetry Moment" series is finally here.
Peng Min, who won competitions on hit television shows Chinese Idiom Conference and Chinese Character Dictation Conference, and also won runner-up twice on Chinese Poetry Competition, shared his story on our program.
He will read the poem What Is Success, written by Ralph Waldo Emerson. As it says in the poem, Peng delivers plenty of positive energy to his audience, mentions everyone has their own definitions of success, and talks about how more people are concerned about making names for themselves in the world.
Despite secular standards, he says, principles of the inner self are equally important aspects of success, such as being able to smile from your heart, being loving or earning respect from the wise. Peng hopes this poem will awaken people's desire towards inner success.
Peng showed another side of himself to the audience, and said Prince Charming is far from who he is. "If I can't be Prince Charming, at least I can be the friendly guy next door."
