New CPC leadership to meet press
Members of the new Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the 20th CPC Central Committee will meet Chinese and foreign journalists after the conclusion of the first plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, Sun said.
The 20th CPC Central Committee will hold its first plenary session after the 20th CPC National Congress is closed, Sun said. (Read more)
The congress will open at 10 am on Sunday at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, and conclude on Oct 22, Sun said.
Delegates will hear and examine a report submitted by the 19th CPC Central Committee, examine a work report of the 19th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, and deliberate and adopt an amendment to the Party's Constitution, he said.
The delegates will also elect the Party's 20th Central Committee and its 20th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, he said. (Read more)

Qualifications of 2,296 delegates to the congress have been confirmed valid, Sun said.
The delegates will attend the 20th CPC National Congress, representing more than 96 million CPC members and over 4.9 million primary-level Party organizations, spokesperson Sun said. (Read more)

Self-reform key to CPC's long-term governance
The spirit of self-reform has been key for the Communist Party of China to stay pure and vigorous, Sun said.
The same question was brought to the CPC over 70 years ago. At that time, Chairman Mao Zedong's answer was to let the people supervise the government. Now, based on the Party's continuous struggles, especially the experience in the new era, General Secretary Xi Jinping has offered the second answer: the Party’s self-reform. (Read more)

The moderately prosperous society that China has built features high-quality achievements, Sun said.
China's GDP had reached 101.6 trillion yuan ($14.1 trillion) by 2020, he said.
