>Zuckerberg admits mistakes
Breaking five days of silence, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg admitted mistakes and outlined steps to protect user data in light of a privacy scandal involving a Trump-connected data-mining firm. Zuckerberg said Wednesday that Facebook has a "responsibility" to protect its users' data and if it fails, "we don't deserve to serve you." But Zuckerberg stopped short of apologizing. And he wrote "what happened" instead of "what we did," leaving Facebook one step removed from responsibility.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is considered by Chinese entrepreneurs as the most promising area in the innovation economy in 2018, says a Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) report released on Tuesday. According to the bank's China Startup Outlook 2018 report, 36% of surveyed Chinese startup executives are most confident in the prospects of AI, followed by life science/healthcare (16%) and big data (11%). It shows that 80% of Chinese entrepreneurs think this year's business conditions will be better than those of last year. On the other hand, difficulties remain in fundraising and securing talent. Data show that 88% Chinese startups say it is challenging to raise capital, and only 1% of them think finding skilled talent is not a problem.

>George wants to join police
While many toddlers dream of being a prince or princess one day, actual royalty, Prince George, 4, has a different aspiration. In fact, although George is prepping to be the future king of England, he could have another occupation in mind for when he grows up. Speaking with winners of the Metropolitan Police Excellence Awards at a reception in Kensington Palace, Prince William, 35, revealed that his son has actually shown a strong interest in the police force. "He is obsessed, actually, by the police...cars, toys, everything," he said. George's love of the police is well-documented. During a trip to Denmark last year, William hand-delivered a letter to Santa on behalf of George, who had written that he wanted a police car for Christmas.

>Lego makes sustainable pieces
Lego recently announced that they will start producing pieces from sustainable sugar cane. The toys, which will be indistinguishable from classic Legos, will also feature "botanical elements" like leaves, bushes and trees. Lego's current bricks are made from oil-based plastics. "We want to make a positive impact on the world around us, and are working hard to make great play products for children using sustainable materials," said Tim Brooks, vice-president for environmental responsibility at the Lego Group. "This is a great first step in our ambitious commitment of making all Lego bricks using sustainable materials."
