Skilled blockchain workers, who make an industry average of 25,000 yuan a month, are greatly needed this year, as the demand for such professionals far exceeds the supply, according to a report. In the first two months of the year, recruitment demand for blockchain-related talent grew 9.7 times compared to the same period in 2017, with the number of companies advertising blockchain-related positions rising 4.6 times year-on-year, online recruitment platform Boss Zhipin said in the report. Recruitment requirements show companies prefer to hire people for technical positions, such as blockchain system engineer, blockchain technical director and blockchain architect, and Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou are where demand is strongest for blockchain talent, the report said.

Russia's national college entrance exam will include Mandarin as an elective foreign language, according to Sergey Kravtsov, Russia's deputy minister of education and science. The three-year preparation work was completed in 2017, including developing technologies for written and oral tests, reference materials and talent reserves, he said. Mandarin will soon become the fifth elective language item for the Russian college entrance exam, in addition to English, German, French and Spanish. The study of Mandarin has grown in tandem with increasing cooperation in trade and economics between China and Russia. Insiders from the Russian education industry confirmed students with both relevant professional backgrounds and Mandarin proficiency are more competitive in job applications.

>Hawking's funeral date set

The funeral of renowned physicist Professor Stephen Hawking will take place at Great St Mary's, the University Church in Cambridge, on March 31, his family announced Tuesday. The Great St Mary's church is just a stone's throw from Gonville & Caius, the Cambridge college where Professor Hawking dedicated himself to researching the secrets of the universe for over 50 years. After the funeral, family, friends and colleagues will be invited to a private service nearby at Trinity College. Professor Hawking's ashes will be interred near the remains of fellow science greats Sir Isaac Newton and Charles Darwin in Westminster Abbey later this year.

>Priciest chocolate displayed

The world's most expensive chocolate, priced at 7,728 euros, went on display at the International Chocolate Festival hosted in Portugal. It takes Daniel Gomes, a Portuguese chocolate master, over one year to make the confection. Apart from being filled with costly spices like saffron, white truffle and Madagascan vanilla, the chocolate is covered with a layer of 23-carat gold. Each chocolate is placed in a small case decorated with Swarovski crystals, pearls, and golden carvings. These unique chocolates have been sold to the United Arab Emirates, Angola, Argentina and Russia.
